    Lincoln Vignette by Linda Cordell

Skulptur Linda Cordell kreiert eine krankhafte Porzellanvignettenfigur von Abraham Lincoln, deren Fleisch von seinen Schultern hängt, als sich eine eifrige Ratte nähert. See porcelain statue below: “Socially awkward and full of repressed anger, I anesthetize myself spending mindless hours carving detailed texture on humorous and/or uncomfortable animal sculptures. A child of the revisionist era, my work reinterprets the figurine enabling animals to break the chains of cuteness and noble savagery. An appreciation of the ridiculous, a love of beauty and skilled craftsmanship, and the belief that domestic objects are social propaganda all contribute to my work.”

Jewel Encrusted Rotting Fruit by Luciana Rondolini

Das Tiffany-Projekt ist eine Serie der in Buenos Aires lebenden Künstlerin Luciana Rondolini, in der verrottende Früchte mit Juwelen geschmückt sind, um sich mit Glitzer gefüllte Muster zu merken. “The brilliance of novelty makes us forget the real value of objects, and the fact that they are all perishable and doomed to become obsolete. These fruits, then, work as a Vanitas, uns an den Verfall und die Vergesslichkeit erinnern, denen alle Dinge unterworfen sind.“ -Luciana Rondolini Alle Bilder © Luciana Rondolini

Pop-Up Paper Sculptures by Peter Dahmen

German artist Peter Dahmen creates complex paper sculptures that pop open once opened. Much like the most awesome children’s books we know but with a sharp delicate artistic edge. See a video of them in motion and also some stills of his work below: Images © Peter Dahmen
