Nicholas Nybro’s Spring Summer 2015 collection at Copenhagen Fashion Week was unapologetically bold, loud, and fully committed to excess. This was not a collection interested in subtlety. It met the audience head on, delivering a riot of color, texture, and visual noise that somehow never tipped into chaos.
The easiest comparison is an 80s gypsy neon circus, though even that feels like an understatement. Saturated hues clashed and harmonized at the same time. Textiles were layered, manipulated, and exaggerated, creating silhouettes that felt sculptural and animated. Every look seemed to carry its own personality, yet all were tied together by a consistent sense of theatrical confidence.
Styling pushed the narrative further. Hair, makeup, and accessories were treated as equal components rather than afterthoughts. Nothing was minimal, nothing was held back. Gaudy elements were embraced deliberately, not ironically, which gave the collection its surprising sense of control. Nybro understood exactly how far to go, and more importantly, when to stop.
What made the collection work was its clarity of vision. Despite the overload of visual information, there was a strong point of view running through the show. Each look felt considered, not random. The designer’s hand was evident in the way color stories repeated, shapes echoed one another, and textures built a cohesive rhythm.
Spring Summer 2015 proved that maximalism can still be tasteful when guided by intention. Nicholas Nybro delivered a collection that was fearless and expressive while remaining grounded in a clear creative idea. It was fashion as spectacle, but with discipline beneath the surface.
