Shot for Elsewhere Magazine, Turn Off the Sun is a cheeky and slightly surreal fashion editorial starring model Borbin. Set in what appears to be an airport or possibly a subway station, the location feels enclosed, fluorescent, and oddly timeless. It is the kind of place where clocks lose meaning and daylight feels like a distant concept.
A Study in Enclosed Time
The title hints at a deeper idea. When you are cut off from windows and natural light, time seems to stretch, blur, or completely detach from reality. The editorial plays with that sensation, placing Borbin in a transitional, in between space where movement exists but direction feels optional.
Sassy, Sharp, and Self Aware
At the same time, the shoot does not take itself too seriously. There is a strong sense of humor and attitude running through the images. Borbin’s presence feels confident and playful, giving the editorial a light, sassy edge that balances out the conceptual undertones.
The Takeaway
Whether interpreted as a commentary on time and artificial environments or simply a fun and stylish editorial, Turn Off the Sun works on both levels. It is clever, visually engaging, and totally rad.
