Viktor & Rolf’s Fall/Winter 2015 Haute Couture show was interactive, off-the-wall, and perfectly unpractical. The drama that Paris Couture is known for was on full display as models were dressed live on the runway. Large paintings were ripped from the walls, frames and canvases collapsed, and the designers used them to construct garments in real time.
It is theatrical, fantastical, and delightfully absurd.
Art Meets Fashion
The collection blurred the lines between art and couture. Each outfit incorporated fragments of canvas and paint, creating sculptural, one-of-a-kind pieces that transformed the models into moving art installations.
Couture Fantasy
While completely unwearable in everyday life, the looks delivered a couture daydream. Every gesture, collapse, and layering of canvas added to the playful, imaginative energy of the show.
Why It Works
The show succeeds because it embraces spectacle while showcasing craftsmanship and creativity. Viktor & Rolf remind us that Haute Couture is about fantasy, storytelling, and pushing the boundaries of design.
The overall mood was clear. Dramatic, playful, and joyfully extravagant.
