“Rebirth Series – Fantomina Noir” by Remy Tilburg and Izabela Bartyzel Embraces the Human Form in Motion

In a world often obsessed with perfection and stillness, Rebirth Series – Fantomina Noir offers a visceral counterpoint—a celebration of the body in motion, raw and unfiltered. Conceptualized and performed by artist Remy Tilburg, and captured through the lens of photographer Izabela Bartyzel, the editorial art series finds beauty in volatility, sensuality in chaos, and clarity in the blur of movement.

A Portrait of Becoming

Titled Rebirth, the series is a visual study of transformation—bodily, spiritual, and emotional. Drawing its name from the enigmatic 18th-century character Fantomina, the project echoes themes of duality, disguise, and reinvention. Tilburg channels these motifs through dynamic, dance-informed movement, his form captured mid-flight, limbs reaching into shadows and light.

Every frame is veiled with clouds of smokey powder, which swirl around the body like memory, like energy, like breath. It’s this interplay between the ephemeral and the concrete that defines the work: motion suspended in a split second, tension held in the powder that clings to skin and dissipates just as quickly.

A Collaborative Ritual

Izabela Bartyzel’s photography is unflinching and reverent. Her use of light and shadow gives sculptural weight to Tilburg’s form, while maintaining the atmosphere of intimacy and impermanence. Her lens doesn’t just capture a body—it captures a process: of release, of vulnerability, of reawakening.

Together, Tilburg and Bartyzel have created not just a photo series, but a performance you can feel in your bones. One that honors the elegance of motion and the poetry of the human figure not as an object, but as a force—constantly shifting, forever becoming.

On View and In Focus

Rebirth Series – Fantomina Noir is a quiet storm: a study in control and surrender, strength and grace, birth and rebirth. At its heart, it’s an invitation to witness a body not as a statue, but as a vessel of feeling and flight.
