Nicholas Alexander Chavez and Sandy Kim Bring Suburb Angst Back Into Fashion

There is something instantly magnetic about seeing actor Nicholas Alexander Chavez through the eyes of photographer Sandy Kim. Her lens has always had a sixth sense for youth, vulnerability and rebellion, and in the Fall 2025 issue of Imagine Mag, the two join forces for a story titled “It’s Cool To Care.” The result feels warm, spirited and a little defiant, like someone finally said out loud what we all needed to hear.

The spread is perfectly styled, largely thanks to fashion editor and stylist Nico Amarca, who knows how to dress a subject in a way that brings out personality instead of drowning it. Chavez appears relaxed and expressive. His clothing moves with him instead of constraining him and the entire story carries the feeling of being invited into a moment rather than witnessing a performance.

Behind the scenes, the creative team worked with the cohesion of a small, passionate studio. Grooming is by @ayaeyamamoto, who brings out Chavez’s softness without polishing away the edges that make him interesting. Creative producer and casting lead @ericacornwall keeps the energy grounded and human. Set design by @krzysztof_katus adds a tactile quality that feels handcrafted rather than sterile. The camera team includes @funkisfunky as first assistant and @eddiesalinas_ as second assistant, both contributing to the seamless rhythm of the shoot.

Styling assistants @anabelle.irl, @beckdobrzanski and @alexlevey help shape the narrative, making sure every detail on set supports the emotional tone of the story. Production assistant @theworldaccordingtodi and equipment provided by @rickrosephoto and @hubblestudio keep the machinery of fashion functioning without removing the magic.

The editorial vision is guided by @huwgwyther as editorial director, Editor in Chief @olivwalton, deputy editor @patrickgradyy, art director and graphic designer @joevessey and photo editor and production director @em.christopherrr. Together, they create a space where Chavez feels sincere and fully present. He is not acting so much as allowing himself to be seen.

“It’s Cool To Care” lands as a reminder that fashion has heart when the right people are steering the story. Through Kim’s gaze and the team’s direction, caring becomes stylish, expressive and quietly radical.
