Woman with Muscular Dystrophy applies to be a fashion model, and gets hired.

The world of fashion and modeling is easily seen as the most self damaging, judgmental  and malicious. For example the recent interview about the A&F image with the CEO of Aberbrombie & Fitch, Mike Jeffries himself stated: “It’s almost everything. That’s why we hire good-looking people in our stores. Because good-looking people attract other good-looking people, and we want to market to cool, good-looking people. We don’t market to anyone other than that,” “In every school there are the cool and popular kids, and then there are the not-so-cool kids,” he told the site. “Candidly, we go after the cool kids. We go after the attractive all-American kid with a…

Making Your Presence Felt in Fashion Photography

Author: fashion model It is a difficult task to establish one’s presence in the fashion photography industry. One can take it as a career option, if one has the willingness to work hard, has a creative mind, and possesses the ability to capture the perfect images. A fashion photographer should have proficiency in two disciplines- you need to be an excellent portrait photographer. Second, you should have the ability to create images for use in advertisements. A successful fashion photographer will be able to combine the two disciplines into a perfect blend with a keen eye to details in design. Success as an esteemed fashion photographer comes to one who…

Morbid or Awesome, 3D Babies …

Morbid or awesome, I can’t decide. A new interesting product has hit the ever bloated pregnancy market, an actual 3-d tangible print of yours, or whomsoever’s unborn baby. Yes, this is true. The company 3DBabies provides the service for around 600 dollars for a mini pre birthed being. Do you set it on the nightstand? Do you think this could replace the nostalgia ultra sound ? Is This how people way back in the day felt when ultrasounds came out? A weird sense of taboo surrounding something like a little baby life. Imagine giving this as a gift to someone. A fetus in a box … But I’m not going…

Indie Musician Lykke Li’s Acting Debut

Popular indie pop musician Lykke Li has a new title to her list, an actress! In the upcoming high action crime thriller titled Tommy. It’s usually very strange seeing musicians transition to the silver screen. I have to say the genre is a refreshing choice, since you would think she would be in a long indie film with no words and close ups of water dripping. You don’t see to much of her in the trailer below but you get a great feel of the movie. It’s in theaters March 14th.   What are your thoughts? Would you go and watch this movie?

Lena Dunham in Vogue, the Issue with the Issue.

Lena Dunham was crowned “THE NEW QUEEN OF COMDEY” by Vogue in their upcoming February issue. Of course, with dubbing Lena that title would come a cover, and on that cover there is her photo, and in that photo comes some controversy. You would think people would be thrilled to have someone seemingly forward thinking and creative gracing the cover of Vogue. As far as celebrities go, we do put Lena Dunham on a relatable and level headed pedestal (Along with Miss Hungergames). The reason for the controversy surrounds the fact of Photoshop, and the issues with projecting false images on other people. Some spectators were shocked that someone so…

The makers of the famously disturbing surreal video” Don’t Hug Me I’m Scared” have come out with a new video, “Don’t Hug Me I’m Scared 2- TIME” The video explains the subject of time wrapped up in what it seems like a child like performance. Even though this time around you have an idea what will end up happening, it’s still great seeing the video spiral somewhere uncomfortable.

Independent Music Isn’t Dead. It’s the Only Thing Left.

Independent Music Isn’t Dead. It’s the Only Thing Left. If you haven’t been reading the trades for the last couple of years, you might be saddened to know that the music industry–at least, the music industry as it has been molded over the last 40 years–is crumbling. The cause of death is a pretty simple one: You and I and everyone we know have been stealing records for almost ten years now, remorselessly and relentlessly. As much as we all hate to listen to Lars Ulrich cry into Bob Rock’s silk ascot, it’s true. It’s illegal, and we’ve been doing it because we assume that we are justified because our…
