Music Video Review: Lana Del Rey – West Coast (Official Audio)

(We’ve already gone how we feel about the song, see that here.) The official music video was released. It’s not much of a step away from the lyric video previously released. It just displays a few more scenes with her and an older rich looking man. Showing how she’s seduced by the glamor of the West coast and how she has to choose between her current lover and the coast.

Lily Allen – Sheezus (Official Video)

Lily Allen Releases her music video for Sheezus featuring her a art school Casio gangsterrrr that plays into the lyrics and editing. She cheekily refers to current pop divas and how they all get their periods, every month. “Ri-Ri isn’t scared of Katy Perry’s roaring Queen B’s going back to the drawing Lorde smells blood, yeah, she’s about to slay you Kid ain’t one to fuck with when she’s only on her debut” “Periods, we all get periods Every month, that’s what the theory is It’s human nature, another cycle Be nice to me, I’ll make you one of my disciples” Love it.

Lykke Li – No Rest For The Wicked

This video seems to display a simple couple running though tall grass, but as the video progresses you see the fault in the wickedness of the characters around them. It seems to take place in the deep south where racism can show it’s face. It’s like a classic Romeo and Juliet story but with legitimate American civil unjustness tied to it. I’m sure that’s not the only way to interpret the song/video.

Lana Del Rey – West Coast (Official Audio)

Lana Del Rey released her single titled  West Coast off her new album Ultraviolence. This isn’t the official video but in the description it says the official video will be released soon. The song has a low key grunge feel in between choruses that isn’t something you would expect by the glamorously nostalgic songstress.  But when the chorus hits she brings back her haunting vintage sound she’s known and loved for. This video (which isn’t the official) costars a similar face, her love interest in her previous hit songs Blue Jeans, Born to Die etc.  So it’s probably safe to say this new album is an extension of her experiences…
