La créatrice néerlandaise Iris Van Herpen, réputée pour ses conceptions structurelles et ses vêtements imprimés en 3D, a dévoilé une robe de mariée révolutionnaire imprimée en 3D pour l'avocate brésilienne Mariana Pavani. Cette robe, ce qui a pris 41 hours to print and 600 hours to design using ZBrush software, was showcased over the weekend. The design process also included a 3D bodyscan of Pavani.
Despite the intricate 3D-printed design, Van Herpen assured that the dress was comfortable and flexible. “With the materials and flexibilities available today, it’s super comfortable,” she told WWD.
Van Herpen’s pioneering work in 3D printing dates back to 2010 with her “Crystallization” top at Amsterdam Fashion Week. Her designs have been worn by celebrities like Lady Gaga and Beyoncé, who donned a Van Herpen piece during her Renaissance tour.
Van Herpen continues to push the boundaries of fashion technology. Earlier this year, she released “Iris Van Herpen: Sculpting the Senses,” a book accompanying her retrospective at the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris.
