Fendi’s Spy Bag Is Back, and Yes, She’s Still Hiding Something

Some bags arrive with a whisper. Others with a full-on, hair-flip, vintage-Dior-slip moment. And then there’s the Fendi Spy Bag, making her comeback like the main character she’s always been. Back for Fall/Winter 2025 with a reboot worthy of her It-Girl legacy, the Spy is once again ready to be seen… and also, not seen. Because, of course, she’s got compartments.

Let’s rewind. The original Spy dropped in 2005 and immediately found herself on the arms of the era’s reigning style oracles: think Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, Nicole Richie, and the early paparazzi parade of icons who made coffee runs look like campaign shoots. With her twisted leather handles and that very specific vibe of “I carry lip gloss, secrets, and emotional damage,” the Spy was big, bold, and irresistibly mysterious.

Fast forward to now. Silvia Venturini Fendi, the woman behind the original, has given the bag a 2025 remix. The silhouette? Still soft, still slouchy, still unmistakably Spy. But now she’s scaled down for today’s shoulder-bag renaissance, and yes, that hidden pocket is still there, now with a shiny gold-trimmed closure under the flap, just waiting to hold your tiny treasures or emergency lip liner. Or receipts. Metaphorical or otherwise.

Shot by Stevie Dance and styled by Anna Trevelyan, the campaign leans into the Y2K nostalgia but stops short of costume. Models Amelia Gray, Gabbriette, and Xiao Wen Ju play it cool, turning sidewalks into runways, with the new Spy at their side. It’s cheeky, it’s chic, it’s deeply wearable.

And because Fendi’s not just about throwbacks, the bag is part of their “Fendi 100” centennial celebration. Which makes it less of a revival and more of a coronation. The Spy isn’t back. She never left. She was just waiting for the perfect moment to reemerge, and frankly, so are we.

The updated Spy Bag is now available at select Fendi boutiques and online at fendi.com. Go ahead. Peek inside.
