Lykke Li – No Rest For The Wicked

This video seems to display a simple couple running though tall grass, but as the video progresses you see the fault in the wickedness of the characters around them. It seems to take place in the deep south where racism can show it’s face. It’s like a classic Romeo and Juliet story but with legitimate American civil unjustness tied to it. I’m sure that’s not the only way to interpret the song/video.

Lana Del Rey – West Coast (Official Audio)

Lana Del Rey released her single titled  West Coast off her new album Ultraviolence. This isn’t the official video but in the description it says the official video will be released soon. The song has a low key grunge feel in between choruses that isn’t something you would expect by the glamorously nostalgic songstress.  But when the chorus hits she brings back her haunting vintage sound she’s known and loved for. This video (which isn’t the official) costars a similar face, her love interest in her previous hit songs Blue Jeans, Born to Die etc.  So it’s probably safe to say this new album is an extension of her experiences…

Xiu Xiu – Bitter Melon [OFFICIAL MUSIC VIDEO]

The most wholesome Xiu Xiu video yet! Nah, depends on what you find wholesome. This video contained two lesbian lovers heavily petting each other and kissing til they get wet, very wet. I don’t find this music video pornographic, I can see it being intentionally crude and personal. Like a personal kink we hide but admire. Check the new video out below, NSFW maybe? Karen O Nominated for an Oscar

Karen O’s Oscar nomination marked a rare moment where alternative music culture brushed directly against Hollywood tradition without losing its edge. Nominated for Best Original Song for “Moon Song,” written for Spike Jonze’s 2013 film Her, the recognition felt less like a crossover and more like a long-overdue acknowledgment of emotional precision.
