UK Bans Gucci Campaign Due to “Unhealthily Thin” Model
UK’s Advertising Standards Authority has banned Gucci’s Cruise 2016 campaign due to featuring a an “unhealthily thin” and “gaunt” model. The image in question was taken from a video still that appeared on thetimes.co.uk and is now banned from being used for further advertising. The ASA report states: “Her pose elongated her torso and accentuated her waist so that it appeared to be very small. The rumored replacement of Saint Laurent’s creative director Hedi Slimane has now been confirmed and changes have taken place immediately. Hedi Slimane has been paired with Saint Laurent for around 4 years and now has stepped down with Anthony Vaccarello as the new confirmed creative director.
