Sufjan Stevens, “Year of the Tiger”

Not a new song but a new official video for a song. Year of the Tiger was released back in 2001 but recently has been brought back to life by director and animator Geoffrey Hoskinson. The video has colorful animations of abstract lions slowly coming closer staring right at you, eventually multiplying and making a final creation. It’s all very hypnotizing. I like the paper like feeling the animation had. Check it out:

Lana Del Rey – Shades Of Cool (Official Video)

New music video for the track Shades Of Cool off Lana Del Reys new album. A song and video embracing vintage wailing of adoration of a man. who happens to be older. It’s not mentioned in the song he’s older, but we’ve come to know Lana for drooling over older men “I gots taste for men who are older” This video’s visuals are heavily based on Lana’s “Lolita” beauty aspect. Which is fine because she is completely gorgeous.

La Roux – Let Me Down Gently

It’s been a hot minute since somethings been released by La Roux, what do you think of the new track and video. The new album titled Trouble In Paradise is set to be released  July 7th. You can tell La Roux is smart and stuck to their sythpop feel which made them huge in the first place. This song though is a little more low beat compared to what we’re us too. Assume there will be more heartbreak in this album. Mac DeMarco – Passing Out Pieces (Official Video)

Full of low res video tape murders and pulling salad out of his butt. The song from Salad Days has a fun camp feel we are all familar with when finding a camera. The video was directed by a fellow band-mate. Check out the shenanigans, and great music. The discription on the video states: “Demarco’s at it again, except this time he’s seen to much! Out for revenge with seemingly no good reason, no one is safe with this cretin roaming the street. There’s blood on his hands and he’s washing them clean, with more blood! All his paranoid fantasies have been realized in this disturbed and barbaric world. “I…

Music Video Review: Lana Del Rey – West Coast (Official Audio)

(We’ve already gone how we feel about the song, see that here.) The official music video was released. It’s not much of a step away from the lyric video previously released. It just displays a few more scenes with her and an older rich looking man. Showing how she’s seduced by the glamor of the West coast and how she has to choose between her current lover and the coast.

Lily Allen – Sheezus (Official Video)

Lily Allen Releases her music video for Sheezus featuring her a art school Casio gangsterrrr that plays into the lyrics and editing. She cheekily refers to current pop divas and how they all get their periods, every month. “Ri-Ri isn’t scared of Katy Perry’s roaring Queen B’s going back to the drawing Lorde smells blood, yeah, she’s about to slay you Kid ain’t one to fuck with when she’s only on her debut” “Periods, we all get periods Every month, that’s what the theory is It’s human nature, another cycle Be nice to me, I’ll make you one of my disciples” Love it.

Lykke Li – No Rest For The Wicked

This video seems to display a simple couple running though tall grass, but as the video progresses you see the fault in the wickedness of the characters around them. It seems to take place in the deep south where racism can show it’s face. It’s like a classic Romeo and Juliet story but with legitimate American civil unjustness tied to it. I’m sure that’s not the only way to interpret the song/video.
