Chanel has announced Matthieu Blazy as its new Artistic Director of Fashion Activities, marking a pivotal moment for the luxury house. Beginning in 2025, Blazy will lead Chanel’s Haute Couture, Ready-to-Wear, and Accessories collections, reporting directly to Bruno Pavlovsky, Chanel’s President of Fashion.
Blazy, known for his innovative yet deeply respectful approach to heritage design, shared his excitement about joining the iconic maison: “I am thrilled and honored to join the wonderful House of Chanel. I look forward to meeting all the teams and writing this new chapter together.”

The appointment comes with high expectations. Pavlovsky expressed confidence in Blazy’s ability to balance Chanel’s storied legacy with forward-thinking creativity, calling him “audacious” and “dedicated to craftsmanship.” Global Executive Chairman Alain Wertheimer and CEO Leena Nair also praised Blazy as “one of the most gifted designers of his generation,” underlining his potential to shape the future of Chanel.
Blazy’s career path highlights his profound influence on modern fashion. A graduate of La Cambre in Brussels, the Franco-Belgian designer worked with Raf Simons early in his career, followed by stints at Maison Margiela, Celine under Phoebe Philo, and Calvin Klein. Most recently, as Creative Director at Bottega Veneta, he revitalized the brand’s identity with a modern yet timeless sensibility.

Blazy’s appointment signals a new era for Chanel, blending its classic codes with fresh innovation. As the industry eagerly awaits his first collection, it’s clear that Blazy’s vision will set the tone for the maison’s future. The next chapter of Chanel begins in 2025, and all eyes are on Matthieu Blazy to see how he will shape the legacy of one of fashion’s most revered names.
