There are clothes you put on because you have somewhere to be, and then there are clothes that make you wonder if you should have somewhere to be. Preferably somewhere with a step-and-repeat, a suspiciously expensive cocktail, and at least three photographers yelling your name.
The new Elie Saab x H&M collection belongs firmly to the second category.
For the collaboration, the Lebanese designer has taken the visual language he has spent decades perfecting, namely gowns, glitter, feathers, lace, dramatic proportions, and the general belief that an entrance should be treated as an event, and translated it into a collection intended for a much broader audience. It is, essentially, Saab asking what happens when his red-carpet fantasy gets released from the velvet rope.
And the campaign does not exactly whisper about it.
Shot against Paris, the collection turns the city into its own runway. Imaan Hammam and Julia Nobis appear in a series of looks staged around the kind of cinematic glamour that makes you briefly question why you’re standing in your kitchen wearing leggings and eating something directly over the sink. The Eiffel Tower and Seine are not subtle supporting characters here. Neither are the clothes.
One of the standout gowns is a sweeping black number with an exaggerated bow and an off-the-shoulder neckline. It has the sort of silhouette that assumes everyone in the room is paying attention. Elsewhere, a sheer lace mini offers a much flirtier interpretation of Saab’s aesthetic, proving that glamour does not necessarily have to arrive at ankle length.
There is also plenty of sparkle. A deep green strapless gown brings serious evening drama, while sequined columns, feather details, and shimmering fabrics push the collection firmly into after-dark territory. A fitted green sequin top paired with narrow black trousers feels like the more mischievous cousin of the gowns, something for the person who wants the fantasy but also intends to dance.
And then there are the bows.
Large ones. Unapologetic ones. The kind of bows that do not merely finish an outfit but seem to have opinions about it. One appears prominently against sleek black tailoring, turning what could have been a fairly straightforward suit into something considerably more theatrical.
That theatricality is really the point. Saab’s signature vocabulary is all over the collection: delicate lace, sheer layers, sculptural shapes, graduated sequins, feathers, and silhouettes designed to make the body look, frankly, extremely aware of itself.
The collaboration also stretches beyond womenswear, with menswear, shoes, and accessories included in the lineup. So this isn’t simply an attempt to squeeze a couture evening gown into a high-street collaboration and call it a day. The idea is bigger: bring the Saab universe into everyday fashion while keeping enough of the fantasy intact that you still feel like you have been invited somewhere fabulous.
Whether you actually have plans is beside the point.
The Elie Saab x H&M collection arrives October 22, 2026, and if the campaign is any indication, this may be one of those collaborations where the hardest part isn’t finding something to wear.
It’s finding an occasion worthy of it.
